Storm water attenuation acts as a barrier to stop flash flooding
from run off rain water. The water is collected in the tank then
released slowly into the local sewerage system once the initial flow
has subsided.
The tanks are constructed from a linear low polyethylene membrane
laid on a compacted sand base. Inside the tank are specially constructed
void expanders that support the structure and are strong enough to
build over when the tank is completed. Once the tank is in place,
it is protected by an outer wrapping of geotextile mesh and buried
below ground level.
It is mandatory to have storm water attenuation for all buildings
over 2000 M2 and there are major tax advantages to businesses having
rainwater harvesting equipment fitted. Our systems are ideal for
most applications including:
- School Installations
- Warehouses
- Office buildings
- Supermarkets
We also build many roadside flood water balancing tanks. These save
huge quantities of money not only by preventing the flooding on the
highway itself but also by eliminating the need to buy extra land to
put the traditional balancing lakes on. As the tanks are underground,
they also have no environmental impact from insects breeding etc and
carry no safety risks when built near areas where children play.
The storm water attenuation systems can also be used as a rainwater
recycling system, please ask us for details.
