Land Fill Cell Construction

The main cells are created in an excavation from 2mm heavy duty polyethylene geomembrane. This contains the deadly leachate and prevents its ingress into the water table.

Temporary Capping

This is performed every few weeks to protect the environment from gasses from the land fill and also to prevent water getting into the cell.

Cell Capping

Once the land fill site is full, a single layer of geomembrane is welded over the top of the cell. This has two purposes, one is to stop further ingress of water and the other is so that methane gas produced within the waste can be ducted off and used as fuel for power generating.
